2024 Polls: Ballot Papers to be deployed nationwide by close of today – EC

The Electoral Commission (EC) has assured the public that all ballot papers will be distributed to regions across Ghana by the end of today, November 26, 2024.

During a meeting with the National Elections Security Taskforce, EC Chairperson Jean Mensa reaffirmed the Commission’s preparedness for the upcoming elections.

According to her, the biometric verification devices are expected to be deployed by the end of the weekend.

However, Jean Mensa clarified that, except for the Northern, Bono, and Bono East regions, ballot papers have already been dispatched to police armouries nationwide.

She assured that the remaining ballots will be delivered to the respective regions this afternoon.

“As we speak, all our registers have been prepared, and they have been disseminated across the country. We are also near completion with our ballots for the presidential and parliamentary polls.

“All the ballots, except the Northern, Bono, and Bono East regions, have been disseminated to our police armouries across the country. I am well aware that the ballot papers for these regions will be disseminated to the police armouries this afternoon.”

Meanwhile, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the head of the National Election Security Taskforce, expressed the commitment of security agencies to ensure a peaceful election process.

“In our readiness, we want to say that we will protect every Ghanaian and every stakeholder in this election to ensure that the election is executed to the benefit of Ghanaians to ensure peace.”
