2024 Polls: Mahama leads with 51.9% votes – Global InfoAnalytics

A new poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics reveals the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama, leading with 51.9% votes in the December Polls.

The final survey, conducted between November 11 and 16, shows Mahama significantly ahead of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), who trails with 40.5%.

Other candidates in the race, including Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen (2.1%), Nana Kwame Bediako (4.7%), and other minor contenders (0.7%), have a much smaller share of voter support, according to the poll results.

The poll also indicates that the election race remains tight in several key swing regions—Greater Accra, Central, and Western—though the NPP appears to be losing ground in the Akan and Northern regions with less than three weeks remaining before Election Day.

Regional Breakdown of Support

In the swing regions, Mahama holds a 51.1% to 39.5% lead over Bawumia, with Kyerematen at 2.0%, Bediako at 7.0%, and others at 0.4%. In the Akan regions, however, Bawumia has a narrow lead at 46.6%, while Mahama follows closely with 44.5%.

Kyerematen and Bediako capture 2.6% and 5.6%, respectively, in these areas.

The poll shows a strong performance for Mahama in the Northern regions, where he leads with 64.7% support, compared to Bawumia’s 33.9%.

In the Volta and Oti regions, Mahama dominates with 72.7% of the vote, while Bawumia stands at just 19.7%.

Shifting Trends in Key Regions

The survey reveals that Mahama is gaining ground in traditionally NPP-dominated areas, including the Ahafo and Bono regions.

While Mahama leads in 13 of Ghana’s 16 regions, Bawumia has a lead in only three regions.

Floating Voters and First-Time Voters

Among floating or independent voters, Mahama holds a commanding lead, securing 63% of their support, followed by Bediako (17%), Bawumia (13%), Kyerematen (5%), and others (2%).

Among first-time voters, who account for approximately 5% of the total registered electorate, Mahama is ahead with 48%, while Bawumia trails at 39%. Bediako and Kyerematen have 8% and 5%, respectively, in this demographic.
