Voter register in viral video not ours – EC debunks allegation

The Electoral Commission (EC) has rejected claims linking it to a viral video showing a white truck allegedly transporting a voters’ register to Ahafo Ano 1 and 2.

EC, in a statement on December 4, 2024, clarified that the document in question is not an official voters’ register. The Commission emphasized that its registers are black and white, not coloured as depicted in the video.

“The Voters’ Register shown in the video is not that of the EC,” the statement read. “The Commission’s registers are black and white, not colored as shown in the video. Additionally, the truck seen in the video does not belong to the Commission.”

The EC further explained that it provides the Final Register to political parties, who then print copies for their agents.

The Commission also urged the public to disregard the video, calling it an attempt to sow suspicion and mistrust regarding the EC’s work.

The Commission has called on the police to investigate the matter, noting that the truck’s visible registration number could assist in the inquiry.
