Every vote counts, I’ll serve all Ghanaians – Mahama

President-elect John Dramani Mahama has pledged to serve all Ghanaians, regardless of whether they voted for him or not, after securing a decisive victory in the 2024 presidential election.

Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), won 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55% of the total vote, while his main rival, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), garnered 4,657,304 votes, or 41.61%.

Out of a total of 11,191,422 valid votes cast and a voter turnout of 60.9%, Mahama emerged victorious in 13 of the 16 regions, while Bawumia claimed victory in three.

The NDC won in regions including Bono East, Central, Greater Accra, Northern, Oti, Savannah, Upper East, Upper West, Volta, Western, and Western North, while the NPP secured victories in Eastern, North East, and Northern regions.

In his acceptance speech, Mahama assured all Ghanaians that his administration would be inclusive and focused on the well-being of the entire nation.

“It’s with tremendous humility that I accept this clear mandate that you the good people of Ghana have given me to lead this great nation. Every vote that was cast in this election carried the same weight, every vote also carried a hope in the future of our country,” Mahama said.

He added, “I promise you that I’ll assemble and lead a government that will carry those hopes and dreams, whether you voted for me or not, because every victory is the victory for all of the people.”
