2024 election victory biggest endorsement in Ghana’s history – Mahama

President-elect John Dramani Mahama is still in awe of his massive win in the 2024 presidential election, attributing it to divine intervention.

With an impressive 56.55% of the total valid votes cast, Mahama decisively defeated his main opponent, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who secured 41.61% .

Reflecting on the significance of his win, Mahama described it as one of the largest endorsements ever given to any president in Ghana’s history.

In a visit from the leadership of the Assemblies of God Church, led by Reverend Stephen Wengam, he attributed the scale of his victory to the powerful prayers and support from the church, stating that the outcome could only be the result of God’s hand at work.

Mahama’s triumph is also a major achievement for his party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which secured a majority in Parliament, including several key constituencies traditionally dominated by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Mahama emphasised the need for continued prayers, acknowledging the heightened expectations of Ghanaians. He noted that the country is facing a severe economic crisis, and restoring it will require tremendous effort.

“In every step that I have taken, I know that the church has followed me with prayer, and especially in the run-up to this election, I know all the prayer networks that were actively praying for our success and this can not be by our might.”

“I was positive that we will win but to the extent of this victory can only be God’s hand at work. It is one of the biggest endorsements that Ghana has ever given to any president”.

“This is the time that we need prayers even more because the expectations of Ghanaians are going to be even more, and we all know that the country is in a severe economic crisis, so it is going to take a lot of hard work to bring it back.”

“We will expect that the church will continue to pray for us, and then we also will reciprocate that love the church has shown to us by being ambassadors and advocates for the church”.
