Let’s focus on Ghanaians to avoid NPP’s ‘unprecedented disgrace’ – Ablakwa to NDC executives

Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has called on the incoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership to work hard to avoid the mistakes that led to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) crushing defeat in the 2024 election.

Speaking to GHOne TV on Monday, December 16, ahead of the Parliamentary sitting, Ablakwa reflected on the NPP’s loss, attributing it to their failure to listen to the people and their engagement in corruption, arrogance, and impunity.

Ablakwa emphasised that the NDC must take a different approach to governance, focusing on transparency, accountability, and making sure the voices of Ghanaians are heard.

He urged the NDC leadership to learn from the NPP’s shortcomings and not repeat the mistakes that resulted in their monumental rejection at the polls.

He further revealed that the NDC has adopted a people-centered approach to governance to avoid NPP’s ‘unprecedented disgrace’.

The MP urged the party to stay connected with Ghanaians and be mindful of their expectations as they prepare to take over the reins of government.

And so in as much as we are in the mood of celebration, we are also reflecting on the importance of this election. That’s why we have resolved to be different. The kind of governance we’ll offer will be a governance of transparency, of accountability, we’ll be above board, we will listen to the people, we’ll make sure we fulfill our promises.”

“Make sure you remained grounded you remain down to earth, you must always be the people, be mindful of where you have come from. Why the Ghanaian people have roundly rejected the NPP and all the things the NPP did that has end them this monumental rejection, this unprecedented disgrace, we must make sure we stay away from that.”
