Two armed robbers attempted to hold up a Forex bureau in Abeka Lapaz in Accra, on Friday afternoon, November 22, 2024.

The suspects entered the bureau, located near the Las Palmas area, and demanded that staff hand over all available cash.

However, the robbery took an unexpected turn when bystanders outside the bureau managed to lock the entrance, trapping both the robbers and the employees inside.

Upon the arrival of law enforcement, the police found the premises secured, with the robbers and employees believed to still be inside.

An eyewitness reported that when police forced their way into the bureau, both robbers had mysteriously disappeared without a trace.

A staff member, who wished to remain anonymous, confirmed that the bureau would issue a formal statement with more details regarding the incident.

The building is now under tight security as investigations continue.
