Accra: Akufo-Addo inaugurates BoG’s modern $250m headquarters

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has officially inaugurated its new $250 million state-of-the-art headquarters in Accra, marking a major milestone in the country’s drive for operational excellence and financial modernisation.

The new facility, known as The Bank Square, was unveiled on November 20, 2024, in a ceremony attended by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and BoG Governor Dr. Ernest Addison.

In his address, Governor Addison highlighted the impressive growth and development of Ghana’s financial sector under the Fourth Republic.

He stressed the bank’s vision to position Accra as a leading financial hub in the West African sub-region, noting that the new headquarters will further contribute to this goal.

Dr. Addison further highlighted broader impact of the project, praising its role in upskilling local workers and setting new standards in Africa’s construction industry.

The BoG Governor underscored that the new headquarters is not just a physical structure, but a symbol of Ghana’s progress and future potential.

The new headquarters is expected to play a critical role in positioning Ghana’s financial sector to adapt to global trends, while providing a strong foundation for the country’s economic growth and development.

He said, “The construction of the “THE BANK SQUARE” has provided an invaluable opportunity for hundreds of local workers to upskill their trades and crafts. It has equipped them with the expertise to create buildings that set standards in sustainability and craftmanship, positioning them at the forefront of modern construction in Africa.”

“This civic building is designed to honour, shape and celebrate the future of Ghana. This state-of-the-art facility will foster creativity, collaboration, and efficiency, and undoubtedly it will enhance productivity in the Bank and further drive our success.”
