The Circuit Court 9 in Accra has sentenced 33-year-old Christopher Kofi Okyere Sorkpa to five years in prison for vandalizing four vehicles, including two V8s, a Toyota Camry, and a RAV4, on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, within the premises of Parliament. He pleaded guilty to all charges.

Sorkpa received a three-year prison sentence on the first count and five years on five additional counts, with the sentences running concurrently.

Meanwhile, the second accused, 41-year-old Wisdom Ahli, pleaded guilty to the first count.

However, His Lordship Samuel Bright Acquah instructed prosecutors to amend their charge against Ahli. The court adjourned his trial to January 9, 2025, for further proceedings.

According to the charge sheet, Sorkpa and Ahli, who are both preachers residing in Kasoa, entered the Parliament House car park at approximately 1:00 PM on December 18, 2024.

They concealed an earth chisel in a handbag, which they used to damage the windscreens of four vehicles belonging to Members of Parliament.

The two were arrested at the scene and confessed to the crime in their caution statements, made in the presence of an independent witness.

During proceedings on Friday, December 20, 2024, Justice Acquah urged the prosecution to carefully review the charges against the second accused before the next hearing.
