Don’t go if Parliament if recalled – Mahama tells NDC MPs

John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has directed the Minority caucus in Parliament to oppose any attempts by the Majority group to reconvene the House before the December 7 general elections.

The Majority caucus had petitioned Speaker Alban Bagbin to urgently recall Parliament, citing critical government matters that need attention following the indefinite adjournment of the House on November 7.

They proposed November 28 and 29, 2024, as possible reconvening dates.

However, Mahama emphasised that the NDC’s focus is on securing victory in the upcoming polls, rather than participating in parliamentary proceedings before the elections.

He urged NDC supporters to vote for Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah as the Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, assuring them that the NDC will emerge as the true Majority group after the elections.

Mahama also instructed NDC MPs not to attend Parliament if recalled, stating “We have seen their [the New Patriotic Paarty’s] letter requesting a recall of Parliament asking us to stop campaigning and go to the House. Let them go if they want, but we will not be going. We will continue our campaign. So NDC MPs, don’t go.”
