EC announces media briefing schedule on election day

The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced plans to provide regular media briefings throughout Election Day, Saturday, December 7, to keep the public informed about the progress of the elections.

The EC, in a statement dated Wednesday December 4, confirmed that the media briefings would offer updates on key developments as the day unfolds.

According to the Commission, the first media briefing will take place at 9:00 am, followed by additional briefings at 12:00 noon, 3:00 pm, and 6:00 pm.

After 9:00 pm, the Commission will hold further briefings as results come in from the regions. Each briefing is expected to last no more than 30 minutes.

The Commission emphasised that the briefings would also be used to address any reports or stories circulating in the media, urging journalists and the public to verify information with the EC to prevent the spread of unverified claims.

Media personnel with accreditation for the National Collation Centre are invited to attend the briefings.

The EC also encouraged the public to contact the Commission through its toll-free number for any clarification during the election process.

The EC reiterated its commitment to delivering a fair, transparent, credible, and peaceful election, and expressed its readiness to collaborate with the media to keep citizens informed.
