Jubilee House mastermind behind fake news against me – Mahama

John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has accused the Jubilee House of running a campaign of fake news on social media designed to discredit him and his political efforts.

Speaking at a mini-rally in the Asene Manso Akroso constituency in the Eastern Region on Tuesday, Mahama claimed that the seat of government has become a central source of misinformation targeting him and others.

His comments came in response to a recent statement by the Chief of Akyem Akroso, Nana Kwabena Ofori, who issued a disclaimer denying reports that he had endorsed Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), during a recent visit.

Mahama urged Ghanaians to be vigilant and verify the information they receive, particularly as the 2024 elections draw nearer. He emphasized the importance of not falling victim to misinformation campaigns.

He further claimed that fake news on social media is being deliberately spread from the Jubilee House, adding that this tactic has been used against him, Nana Ofori, and many others.

He said, “While Nana was speaking, he said journalists should be careful not to misinterpret him. But Nana, it’s not the journalists; it’s the Jubilee House. That’s where the misinformation is coming from. It’s called fake news when something you never said is reported as if you did.”

“It is not the right thing, but they have done it to me, they have done it to you, and a lot of people. So, all fake news on social media comes from the Jubilee House,” Mahama added.
