President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Justina Nelson as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF), effective immediately.
Ms. Nelson’s appointment follows the revocation of Edward Nana Yaw Koranteng’s appointment as CEO of MIIF, effective Tuesday, January 14, 2025.
A statement from the President’s office, signed by Callistus Mahama, the Secretary to the President, confirmed the appointment.
The statement also indicated that Koranteng is to hand over his duties to Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the President’s representative at the Ministry of Finance, who will oversee the fund’s operations until a new CEO is appointed.
In a separate statement issued by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Acting Spokesperson for the President, it was disclosed that Ms. Justina Nelson’s appointment was made in accordance with Article 195(1) of the Constitution and Section 21(2) of the Minerals Income and Investment Fund (MIIF) Act, 2018 (Act 978).
Ms. Nelson brings over 20 years of experience in banking to her new role. She is currently the Group Head at Zenith Bank (Ghana) Limited, where she oversees the Energy and Commercial Banking sectors.
She holds a Master of Laws in Corporate and Commercial Law and an MBA in Marketing, both from the University of Ghana.
Additionally, she has a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Management and Psychology from the University of Ghana.
The President expressed confidence in Ms. Nelson’s ability to lead MIIF and advance its strategic objectives.
It stated, “The President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, has in accordance with Article 195(1) of the Constitution and Section 21(2) of the Minerals Income and Investment Fund (MIIF) Act, 2018 (Act 978), appointed Ms. Justina Nelson as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Income and Investment Fund. Ms. Nelson is an accomplished Banking Professional with over twenty years experience.”
