U.S. Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia E. Palmer, has reassured that the longstanding and robust partnership between Ghana and the United States will continue, regardless of the outcome of the 2024 U.S. presidential election.
In a press briefing on November 6, 2024, Ambassador Palmer emphasized that Ghana-US relations are built on resilience and continuity, and will remain unaffected by changes in U.S. leadership.
“I’m pleased to address the press today, and I want to stress that no matter who emerges as the winner in this election, the United States and the embassy are committed to further strengthening our partnership with Ghana,” she said. “Both countries will see transitions in leadership, but Ghana remains a cornerstone of U.S. engagement in Africa.”
Palmer, who is currently serving her sixth U.S. presidential election, reaffirmed her dedication to serving under whichever administration takes office. “The U.S.-Ghana relationship is of paramount importance, and that will not change with a shift in leadership,” she added.
In related news, former President Donald Trump has surpassed the 270 Electoral College votes needed to win the 2024 U.S. presidential election, securing a second term after previously serving from 2017 to 2021. Trump’s victory now makes him the confirmed winner of the election.
